Light, fresh, crisp and tangy; classically paired with seafood and
fish, it’s also excellent with game, poultry and cheese

A rich, soft-textured, elegant combination of toasty vanilla, peach and pear

WH 2008 Jadot Mâcon-Villages Burgundy (Chardonnay) Half-bottle 16
This pale gold un-oaked Chardonnay is fresh and brilliant, with
delicate aromas, flavors of apple and melon offset by citrus notes,
and a crisp acidic balance ending in a clean, lively finish

WI 2010 Latour Pouilly-Fuissé Burgundy (Chardonnay)     31
Great floral fragrance; flavors of lemon zest, butter, kiwi, apple and
pear are balanced by a bracing minerality; round and creamy texture;
impressive persistent finish

WJ 2001 Foreau Vouvray Demi Sec Domaine du Clos Naudin Loire 32
(Chenin Blanc)
Spice and earth flavors, with notes of mulled cider, apple and graham;
firm acidity (WS 85)

WK 2005 Foreau Vouvray Demi Sec Domaine du Clos Naudin Loire    66
(Chenin Blanc)
Robert Parker: “Hallmarks of 2005 are, in Foreau’s words, ‘elegance
and equilibrium,’ and…I would argue that the supreme expression of
this vintage here might be said to reside in his exceptional 2005 Vouvray
Demi-Sec. With a winsome bouquet of honeysuckle, buddleia [a flower
that grows in warm climates!], quince, marzipan, ginger, and apricot,
this proves amazingly dense and rich in the mouth, with deep, bitter-sweet
walnut and fruit pit notes, yet still bespeaks a remarkable elegance and a
nearly perfect balance of fruit and acidity. Without benefit of the label, many
tasters would call this wine of 18 grams residual sugar ‘dry.’ An eloquent
exchange of wood smoke, chalk and salt with quince, apple, marzipan, ginger,
and sweet flowers marks its long, engaging, finish…93” [We reproduce this
comment at length because it’s such a marvelous example of winespeak;
anyway, the wine is quite wonderful; WS also rates it at 93]

WL 2005 Domaine Camp Galhan Amanlie     26
Vin de Pays Duché d’Uzès Languedoc
(70% Viognier, 30% Roussanne)
Unmistakable floral overtones of Viognier dominate the aroma. The white
flowers soon give way to to peach and apricot fruit flavors in the mouth.
A very mineral backbone and a hint of citrus on the finish help to keep this
lush, rich wine in balance. (RP 87)

WM 1999 Vernay Condrieu Les Terrasses de l’Empire Rhône (Viognier)48
Gorgeous. Melts in the mouth. Honey, butter, crushed walnut, jasmine
and orange blossom complexity. Full-bodied but never overdone, remaining
focused. A breathtaking wine…93” WS

WN 2007 Domaine de Durban Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise Rhône (Muscat)
Intensely aromatic; flavor notes of peach, apricot, lime and lemongrass;
medium-bodied; delicate; not overly sweet        Half-bottle 27

WO 2005 Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) Carmes de Rieussec Sauternes
(85% Sémillon, 10% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Muscadelle)   Half-bottle 35
Wine Spectator: “Shows licorice, fennel and dried lemon, with hints
of honey. Full-bodied, dense and medium sweet, showing lots of honey,
apple tart and cream. Long and syrupy…90”

WP 2000 Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) Château de Cosse Sauternes
Bordeaux ( 95% Sémillon, 3% Sauvignon Blanc, 2% Muscadelle)
A great Sauternes from a great year. Only two left.  Half-bottle 40

WQ 1990 Domaine de Rancy Rivesaltes Ambré Roussillon (Muscat) 42
This wine was aged for many years in an assortment of old barrels and
recently put on the market. Robert Parker: “Smelling sweetly of
chocolate-drenched, nutmeg-dusted toasted hazelnuts, this comes to the
palate with an improbable counterpoint of creamy texture with bright,
fresh plum fruit, finishing with rich chocolate, nuts, candied plum, and
penetrating “rancid” pungency, very sweet but never cloying…90”
